Help to Stop Smoking
NHS Forth Valley provides local clinics to help people give up smoking. The clinics have a high success rate with about three quarters of people who attend staying stopped at four weeks.
Alternatively you can ask your GP, nurse or community pharmacist for advice and support or contact Smokeline, Scotland’s national stop smoking free helpline on 0800 84 84 84 (8am-10pm, 7 days a week) or visit, NHS Inform.
E-Cigarettes
A report from the Royal College of Physicians, Nicotine Without Smoke: Tobacco Harm Reduction, concludes that e-cigarettes are likely to be beneficial to UK public health. Smokers can therefore be reassured and encouraged to use them, and the public can be reassured that e-cigarettes are much safer than smoking.
